I have tried many recipes for egg-free cut-out sugar cookies over the years and this one is by far the one that works the best. I recently came across the recipe again for these egg-free Cut-out Sugar Cookes again while cleaning out my email inbox. It was sent to me 9 years ago!
The email says it is from the Kraft holiday recipe magazine (I think they used to send them in the mail in the early 2000’s).
I remember making them a few times when I first received this recipe and the dough was very sticky, so I decided to add more flour to make rolling easier. With that change, the recipe works perfectly everytime and has been our go-to for Christmas cookies as well as other holidays and birthdays. Don’t worry you will not taste the cream cheese at all.
So to make these egg-free Sugar Cookies you need cream cheese, butter, flour vanilla and baking soda. In a bowl combine the flour and baking soda with a whisk and set aside.
With a mixer beat cream cheese, butter, and sugar.
Gradually add the flour mixture and beat until the dough forms. It will look like this when ready.
Next, cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
When you are ready to start cutting out cookies start preheating your oven to 350 degrees.
On a lightly floured surface roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness.
Cut out cookies with your favorite cutters and place onto the parchment lined cookie sheets. Bake for 10 minutes.
Once they are done baking, remove cookies from the oven and move the cookies to wire cooling racks. Make sure the cookies cool completely before decorating.
These cookies always come out perfect and have a great light taste that balances well with sweet icing. I hope your family enjoys them as much as we do!
