Apple Crisp

This is the perfect dessert for cold days like we have been having for the last two weeks. This apple crisp is made from just a few pantry staples and any type of apple will taste great. This recipe is egg-free, dairy-free and nut-free.

After preheating your oven to 350-degrees start slicing apples. I like to use my apple peeler/corer/slicer to do this quickly and easily.

I also like to have my kids help with this job!

Spread the apples evenly in an 8×8 inch square pan. In a bowl, mix water, cinnamon, salt and vanilla (optional). Pour this mixture over the apples evenly.

In another bowl add sugar, flour, and butter. Using a pastry blender work the mixture together until crumbly.

Next, spread the crumb mixture all over the top of the apples.

Then all you have to do is bake this for 40 minutes at 350-degrees.

 You can eat this warm or cold, but it tastes especially good with ice cream or whipped cream!

  • 4 cups apples sliced
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla optional
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/3 cup dairy-free butter softened


  1. Preheat oven to 350-degrees. Peel and slice apples into thin and equal slices. 

  2. Spread out apple sliced evenly in an 8 x 8-inch square pan.

  3. Pour mixture of water, cinnamon, salt and vanilla over the apples. You can toss them a bit to make sure it is incorporated evenly.

  4. In a separate bowl add sugar, flour, and butter. Using a pastry blender work the mixture together until crumbly. Then spread the crumb mixture over the top of the apples.

  5. Bake for 40 minutes. Serve warm.
